| | | Hello and recent reptile encounters Just wanted to say hi, as I've only just joined. Great to see a forum on uk reptiles. Have managed quite a few sightings this year, mainly in Yorkshire.
Yesterday saw one adder and four grass snakes at a location in Yorkshire near Selby. The adder was actually with a grass snake under a piece of corrugated iron. I didn't know that you got them in the same locations, is this common?
I took pictures and they are in the Gallery, but when I click Gallery it says I have no pictures so I'm not sure what is happening there!?! You can probably still see them in recent items called originally "close up of adder" and "close up of grass snake".
I've quite a few more on my flickr account Brolly99, always keen for more nature contacts!
Cheers Oliver
PS if anyone could help linking my Gallery photos that would be great! |

| | | Re: Hello and recent reptile encounters Hi Brolly, welcome to WAB.
Although you won't find Grass Snakes and Adders under the same piece of corrugated iron/carpet every day of the week, it is not uncommon.
I have occasionally found them both with Slow worms and/or Common Lizards.
That's the excitement when lifting that piece of tin, you never know what you will find, though usually it's just a Woodlouse or two!

| | | Re: Hello and recent reptile encounters Spent all yesterday morning on Adder hunt near Holt,Norfolk. Lots of beware Adder signs but I saw nothing. Weather started off overcast but once the sun came out i thought i would have some luck...However it was damp so perhaps Adders prefer woodland to neighbouring heathland? Or they hiding under Ferns and Heathland thorny bushes. Really thought i would see one though... Still guess it's part of the excitement of herping! :-) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
