Beautiful Slow Worm

Thought I'd share with you some photos of a lovely slow worm found in my garden last night by my cat luckily he was completely uninjured and in great condition so I bought him in for a few minutes just to take these photos and then released him into the compost heap where he slithered away, I am so privileged to have these in my garden I have never handled or photographed one before so this was a first for me! I am aware they do shed their tails however, so was careful when handling him, for any experts I am right in thinking this is a male? and an adult?
