| | | Unidentified snake
Whilst playing golf at the weekend this unidentified snake was spotted on the putting green. Has anybody got any ideas as to the kind of snake this may be? On approaching the snake it appeared to move it's head back and strike? It was approximately 30-40cms long. |

As the others have said this is a young Grass Snake, when fully grown they are our largest native snake species and can reach over 1 metre in length. They aren't venomous and they tend to be quite shy, usually rapidly fleeing if disturbed.
