| | | Re: Reptile/amphibian of the day The rain this morning seems to have brought out a second wave of frog activity. There had already been a massive spawning at Yeading Brook but was wonderful standing there in the rain hearing a chorus of Common Frogs.
When I got back home i thought all the spawning had ended a couple of weeks ago but now there were 9 frogs frolicking again. |

Such a difference. South faces ponds vs one in a north facing garden? I can only speculate. Mind you, last week I rescued two females with eggs, and yesterday there was one looking like it was about to burst.

| | | Re: Reptile/amphibian of the day Tried to get some pictures of the many Common Lizards we saw today at Frensham pond, but failed to get a good one. However it was nice to see about 20 of them mostly females. |

| | | Re: Reptile/amphibian of the day Well my first reptile sighting of the year wasn't a native, but a Red-eared Terrapin basking on a log by Pen Ponds in Richmond Park.
Of more concern on a small pond that's always had a good number of breeding Common Frogs + Common Toads there was no sign of any frogs or spawn, similarly no toads, though it's possible the latter haven't arrived yet. |

| | | Re: Reptile/amphibian of the day My first reptile sighting of the year was a small Common Lizard at a local wood. It was sunbathing on a grassy ride and I only noticed it when it moved (I was looking at bees at the time). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
