Bit of luck on the heath today
We think it's a male sand lizard. He popped down the hole as we walked past, and we waited, and waited, and waited! Eventually he stuck his nose out a bit, then more, and finally after about 45 minutes came out completely and warmed himself in the sun. We felt very priviledged to see this rare sight in the wild.






Taken from about 12 feet with my Sony A100 and 500mm f8 reflex lens.

Well spotted. I've yet to see one. I have seen common lizards twice this week though at different locations.
