| | Dead and deformed frog in pond... Hi all
Yesterday I found a dead frog floating on the surface of my pond, with an odd deformity on it's back. I would love to know what this is, whether it is common, and perhaps most importantly, whether it is an indicator that there is some sort of disease in the pond. We had 30-odd frogs spawning in the pond this year, there is masses of frogspawn (though some has been killed off by the frosts), and we also have several newts. I'd hate to see more critters dying... |

| | | Re: Dead and deformed frog in pond... Perhaps the reproductive organs have become blocked or become infected, resulting in this bulge and the death of the frog, I arnt saying do it but I would open it up and have a look at whats in that bulge. They can be hard to sex although the large arms are suggestive its a male. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
