limb regeneration

if a frog, toad, or newt lost a limb, do they grow a new one back? like some lizards grow new tails, i was just curious?

I remember reading somewhere about the removal of Ambhibian's toes as part of a catch/mark/release/recapture survey-and the authors asserted that the toes would grow back after the beast's winter hibernation. It may have been by Sutherland I cannot remember for sure. It sounds rather cruel, and perhaps only justified when there is serious need to conduct the research!
As for whole limbs, I've no idea, but the potential might be there? An important question might be how viable an individual with a missing limb might be in the wild in the immediate term.
