Hopefully the taddies will eat it clear | yeah my pond is too and it also didnt deter spawning. i have Elodea as an oxygenator which helps make it clearer when the summer comes. I was going to replace it with a native plant, as it's very prolific and i usually thin it in the fall, but the Large Red damselflies seem drawn to it to lay their eggs on, so i leave it.
hope your spawn hatches soon Posie

| | | Re: Any Frogs Spawn in South East England regaurding depth, there is a very shallow concrete water feature come pond in a local park, no more than 1 foot deep and about two meters round in a dish shape so its easy for critters to walk in and out
its full of spawn
the next nearest water hole for ground critters is probably several streets away, unless any privet households have ponds
i have seen spawn laid in puddles where its been waterlogged over a few days so i diont think frogs are that fussy lol |

| | | Re: Any Frogs Spawn in South East England Hi Mollymoo ...i think there is definately still hope for you to get spawn as my frogs did exactly the same thing ....they stayed paired up for 12 or 13 days !!!!! i had just about given up and hey presto 6 blobs of plump spawn i know it is really late but its been a funny old year so far ....and if they are still ''at it'' then that means THEY haven't given up good luck Marion

Well I too am in the North West and my pond is absolutely heaving with tadpoles - I kid you not there must be thousands, we had masses of frogs in the garden last year but I didn't move in until July so didn't see the tadpole stage.
The frogs before they spawned where all on top of each other at the bottom of the pond - at one point it looked like one big moving mass! |
