| | | Re: Any Frogs Spawn in South East England My Harry Heron, is still very much alive, I am pleased to say...My thoughts are that if you are Wild About Britain, and are a Nature Lover, you have to accept the 'Food Chain' system, and if you want to protect either pets or certain wild species from being gobbled up, then it is your responsibility to put this protection into place, BUT it must NOT BE anything that will cause **unnecessary suffering** to the predator. I don't expect everyone on this earth to agree with this, but it is what I think......And if you use a method to protect something and a predator 'accidently' suffers and dies, then you learn from that, immediately remove the offending system, so it does not happen again, and find a system that does work, without danger to the predator....As I said, I don't expect everyone on this earth to agree. ...Posie

i dont get a selective concern for one type of animal and a casual disregard of others. I suppose if the animal is a rare or endangered one then it make more sense in terms of concern. I like butterflies a lot and often try to rear some every year, but it doesnt bother me about how birds take them to feed young, or how some succumb to parasites- its all good |

| | Re: Any Frogs Spawn in South East England Hi Marion, I would have done the same thing, because I think that as they couldn't easily get to your pond, you have done the frogs and toads, a BIG favour, 'cos your neighbour's pond would surely have been overcrowded if you hadn't intervened and saved the day. Also, couldn't you remove a bit of fence your side.(And put signposts ''Frogs and Toads..This Way..).... Seriously though I think what you did was fine, so stop worrying and enjoy your lodgers.... Good Luck ! .....Posie.. |
