Saw my first Adder of the year.I was out and about in the borders and stopped of at a few sites i know of. I was not expecting to see any thing as there is still some snow in the area.Stopped of at Whiteadder reservior and had a look at an area where they bask.Saw small male basking in the late afternoon sunshine.Only got one picture and i had the wrong lens on.It was four in the afternoon but still some weak sunshine.I will try to put the picture on the Gallery.

I know that is very early to see an adder, especially considering how cold it has been! I don't really know a great deal about adders, but I do know that I am scared to death of ever meeting one, which is beyond silly! I would love to get over this, but I don't know if I ever will.

Yes its 2 days earlier than last year but last year was quite mild.There was still snow in the surrounding area! |

Colin,Thats excellent,just go!s to show its worth checking any where in the countryside where Adders are found,if theres a few milder sunny days its worth a try,i would never have thought of trying so early in South Yorks,and although Winters back with a vengeance today,a settled couple of days and i il have a look .all the best Bri. | | |
