Unidentified skull

CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY THIS SKULL, FOUND NEAR A POND IN WOODLAND. IN S/CUMBRIA.

Looks like a fox skull but its a bit too flat. I would think some other sort of Canidae sort of animal

I cant see any tooth sockets, I forgot to give sizes :- length 8cm
width 3.5 cm depth/height 1.5cm

I really can't make much of those blurred photos (do you have any better ones?), but are you sure it's actually a skull? It might just be a bird pelvis.

I agree this is a birds pelvis. Definately not a skull. The location and general form of it would point to a duck, although thats more of an educated guess.

Yes, its a pelvis, possible goose, Canada maybe?

thank you for your answers, I am inclined to agree with the bird pelvis, what I thought where eye sockets a obviously hip joints, there is also one small hole where the nostrils would have been which I couldn`t understand in a skull, it now seems obvious its the spinal chord canal, thanks again sorry for being such a plonker.

Dont worry Tony, I only knew cos of going through the same a couple of years ago when one was brought into the centre - until you realise, it could be a bird skull, then it clicks.................
