I'm going to attempt to see all herpetofauna found in Scotland next year and I have a few questions if some knowledgeable people know!
1. Are population of Sand Lizards on the Isle of Coll easy to see and abundant?
2. What are the best sites for the three newts? (Palmate, Smooth, Great Crested)
3. What is the best site for Common Lizard?
I'm planning to go down to Dumfries and Galloway as they seem to have a good population of Adder, Slow-worm and Natterjack Toad (or so I've heard) but I'm not sure about sites for other species. I'm also planning to go to the Western Isles, Highlands and Orkney, are those places good for some species? I also heard that the chytrid fungus had been found in the Natterjack Toads in Dumfries and Galloway, is this true, has the population survived?
Thank you,
