Best places to look for.......

Next year in march ill be off to Hartland Moor and was wondering where the best places are to spot smooth snakes and sand lizards? actually any of are reptiles would be great , ive heard Stoborough Heath is good place for them at that time of year.
Does anyone here ever go up there on a reptile hunt if so is Stoborough Heath a good place to start looking

The Smooth snake might not be quite as rare as believed. I've seen quite a few in other parts of Europe, but never taken the trouble to seek one out here.
I have seen it's prefered habitat here described as being sandy Heather covered hillsides South facing, it helps if theres a stream or damp place at the bottom.
See if you can find somewhere like that on the map of where you're going.
