| | | I think this is a common garden lizard but have NEVER had anything to do with lizards Hi Just wonder if anyone can help me i think i found a common garden lizard, its only bout 1 and half inchs long so i think maybe a baby we did look for a mum but no luck. i have never had any dealing with liizards apart from holding at farms. So if i could get a picture on wondered if anyone can help tell me what it is?, i also wondered if anyone know can i keep it we have an empty tank and thought it might make a nice home, but if i can then i need an idea as to what it will eat and drink or what it needs to live.
Thanks for any help.
Trina.
I dont seem to be able to work out how to get a picture on here, i did put it in the Gallery for reptile and amphibian, if anyone can look nad help i would really be greatful. |

Please dont keep any wild creature in captivity they dont do very well and it could be illegal.
There are instructions in the Gallery this link might help upload them to the image Gallery then you can put a link to this thread.
Someone will id it for you. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...otos-info.html

its not a lizard but a newt. it's in it's terrestrial phase (living on land) so if you put it back in the garden under some cover it will be fine. don't let it dry out though.
cheers

| | Re: I think this is a common garden lizard but have NEVER had anything to do with liz There are so many elements to correct identification without better pictures or seeing the animal in person it is very difficult. Many people pick up little tips like smoothes having an orange stripe on their bellies and palmates having a tiny filament at the end of the tail, but some of these features are only found in adults, only in either males or females and at the correct time of year.
So if you are going to take a picture of any animal for identification take a picture from every angle and close up shots as well
I would advise this book …
