| | | unidentified range of amphibians hello! this is a range of amphibians ive taken but im useless at id-ing them so thought you could help:

theyre all from the south coast. the toad and newt with orange belly is from the new forest,

thanks! | Quite what do you mean by "taken"? Taken photos of or taken as specimens?
It is very dificult to ID newts at this time of year, if you have Great Crested Newts there, you are infringing laws. I don't like to handle any amphibs unless there is a real reason for it.
Bit more information, please.

| | | Re: unidentified range of amphibians by taken i mean photos - of corse i wouldnt actually take them! sorry for any ambiguity there. the majority of these live in the pond in my back garden except the toad and the orange newt, but i know what greater crested look like (as they are such a hot topic due to rarity) and am almost 100% sure none of these are them! |

| | | Re: unidentified range of amphibians ok...the first pic is either a palmate or smooth newtlet def not a great crested. the second and third pics are palmate newts. the lack of spots on the throat and the dorsal stripe starting at the base of the head and continuing all the way down to the tail are the things to look for. the fourth pic is a common toad. the fifth pic looks like a rather thin male smooth/common newt and the final pic looks like a common frog.
