| | | baby red toad whilst walking in the lakes this weekend-i came across a tiny maroony-red coloured toad in a wood near keswick. it was only about 2cm long(sitting in the palm of my hand) it was definitely a toad---it had very 'warty' skin.
anyone able to help with i.d please? sorry--no pic.

| | | Re: baby red toad Hi dickbird, I think you will find it is a Common Toad Bufo bufo they can vary in colour grey and olive threw there normal brown to brick red, the only other native toad is the Natterjack Epidalea calamita which is quit rare and mostly restricted to coastal sand dunes, it is normally fairly easy to tell from the Common Toad by a thin yellow line running down the centre of its back.
