Just spotted this news item on yahoo news, about captive bred sand lizards being released into england and wales,

In the 1960s my mother had sand lizards in her suburban garden in Cardiff - we took this as a commonplace thing. It's only in recent years that I've realised how very lucky we were to see them.

ive never seen one myself (probably would not recognise one if i saw one

although there are plenty of Common lizards around this area, (at least i think thats what that are,) but there are a few areas of sandy heathland around here, so maybe we will see sand lizards in the future ?
