Another Snake in house! (9 Images)

After several years of trying to find and photograph a grass snake unsuccessfully, I got a call yesterday from a distressed work collegue who found one in his living room hiding behind his TV! He knows I have a huge interest in reptiles and called me to capture the beast. When I saw the poor little thing I was amazed that people are actually afriad of these.
My friend lives on a housing estate near Dartford Marshes but this little snake is too young to have made that journey so I'm assuming that it was born in someone's compost heap or something similar nearby.

Aww, that's such a cutie!

When I worked in a nature centre in east Berkshire, one summer we kept finding baby grass snakes all over the place - turning up on the floor of the toilets, in the display room, in the classroom... It was great to see them. I wish we got them in our garden... No sign yet, despite having a pond and a compost heap, and being fairly close to a river.

I'd love to live somewhere that had these visiting my garden although anything that comes into my garden get killed by one of my cats unfortunately.

I am lucky enough to see common lizards and toads everyday at work at the moment. I work as a postman and they live in our car park surprisingly!

Wonderful photographs and the markings are so distinct on this baby and he is cute.
