| | | Is this a Baby Toad? Built a pond in February as I already had a few frogs in the garden. Had frogspawn and now have froglets but have also noticed what look like toadlets. Not come across any toadspawn in the pond but would welcome anyone's opinion |

| | | Re: Is this a Baby Toad? Hi Kayleigh, they jump and crawl, but they seem quite clumsy and don't jump as quickly or as far as some of the other froglets. That's what drew my attention to them. I guess as they get bigger it will become more obvious... |

I love toads but haven't seen one for a while. You're very lucky.

| | | Re: Is this a Baby Toad? Toad indeed it is as Jim says - I seem to find many more of these this year than froglets - dont know why, a good toad year/bad frog year?

| | | Re: Is this a Baby Toad? A young Toad. I've a few of its twin Climbing/hopping/crawling,around the borders. Have all sizes from really tiny to large. No pond either.
They do that exaggerated stretching to make themselves look bigger, so as not to get eaten.
I found a headless skin of one the other morning, with the insides eaten. Think the skin is poisonous/doesn't taste nice. So there's something around that eats them, maybe the Hedgehog that dines on the snails.

| | | Re: Is this a Baby Toad? Thanks for your replies. I'm really pleased to have toads in the garden as well as frogs. Excellent pest control
Interesting about the headless skin as I found one as well yesterday. Wonder if it's possible for an adult frog to be responsible as I've never come across any hedgehogs. |

| | | Re: Is this a Baby Toad? I doubt a frog would eat a toad, but if it did, it would swallow it whole. If you meant an adult toad skin, my bet would probably be a fox, but it would be nice to know.
Cheers,
Steve
