I've attached photographs - if anyone is able to help identify this newt it would be much appreciated!
Most info and photos on the web show newts in their aquatic breeding stage and i'm finding it hard to identify terrestrial stage adults.
I found this newt in a marshy area North of Glasgow (Kilpatrick Hills).
This individual had an unspotted, slightly pinkish throat (not shown in the photos) and was about 7cm in length.
Does an unspotted throat mean that it's a palmate or can smooth newts also have unspotted throats?? Is the only definitive way to check the feet for the presence of tubercles?
