| | | Where have all the Frogz/Toadz gone? In my local area, I am fortunate enuff to have a local wood/Reserve that I have spent many happy years exploring. However, In previous seasons, I can recall there being huge numbers of Frogs/Toads to the extent of being almost over run with em. Sadly, this no longer seems to be the case & I find myself questioning why. I am aware that population levels often fluctuate but this year so far I haven't seen a single specimen of either?
Could anyone comment on the situation further afield. I would be interested to hear if this issue is merely local, or perhaps a more widespread 'dip'.
Thanks

| | | Re: Where have all the Frogz/Toadz gone? If anything here, on the eastern reaches of Greater London, we have seen quite an increase this year. Approximately the same number as previous years in our front garden, but our neighbour reported a record eleven adults around her pond in the spring.
We've had a decorative pond in the back garden with 30cm walls around it and some quite large fish for about 14 years and never seen the slightest hint of an amphibian. But last year two juvenile Common Frogs turned up. And this year a breeding pair and three juveniles have taken up residence, much to our excitement. We now have random appearances of froglets from the undergrowth, so in this small garden things are looking up.
Cheers,
