| | | Re: sick wild frog Hi and a warm welcome to WAB. I know nothing about amphibians but someone will give you advice. I would have made sure he had some water but I don't know what you could feed him, perhaps some worms.

| | | Re: sick wild frog Thanks for the suggestion and the warm welcome!! I tried fish food!! but he wasn't interested. There are flies on the water he's in also. I'll give the worms a go. |

| | | Re: sick wild frog to fed him,
worms , slugs, or any other largish insect you can find in the garden, butterflies / moths. don't bother with aphids and suchlike.
keep him in a large plastic container, using ink free paper towels as substrate, and he must have access to clean dechlorinated water, either rain water , springwater, or dechlorinated tap water.
this should be in a container which is large enough for him to sit in but don't make it deeper than 25% of his height.
change the paper towels and water daily.
once he has perked up return him to a cool damp place in your garden |

| | | Re: sick wild frog Thanks a million captaincarot and ron! I'll do that. He's still exactly the same this morning. I have him in a half barrel at the moment (it's a water feature - not turned on at the moment ), so I'll change him in to a container etc as you said and get him some food. I'll keep you updated. |

but if a frog is going to survive then:
keeping them moist with good clean water supply, warm enough yet not too hot.
and well fed with live food, they won't eat dead food as the movement trigggers the feeding response.
will give them their maximum chance of recovering. |

| | | Re: sick wild frog thanks again. He hasn't eaten yet, but still sits upright on my hand and can flip himself the right way up. Hopefully he'll recover, but you've given me good advice and I feel happier now. Thanks a million | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
