| | | My first slow worm while out in Clumber park on a fungi hunt last evening, i parted some bracken in front of some logs, and saw a slow worm on top of one of the logs,
we were so fascinated by it we completely forget to get a picture of it
although there are plenty of lizards in Clumber, this is the first slow worm i've ever seen, anywhere, and to end the evening on another high, a pair of buzzards flew into the pines and settled about 10yds from where we stood,
Brilliant,
Brian. |

| | | Re: My first slow worm Oooh, nice one Brian. I've never seen one alive in the wild before, but have come across a couple of dead ones. NickCantle popped a lovely photo of one up in the Gallery just a few days ago. I'll have to keep looking, or just keep an eye out. Well done. |

| | | Re: My first slow worm A while back I was in a hurry to get to a meeting with someone, but I took my camera in the car, just in case. As I was motoring down the A11 I saw two buzzards and a third BOP, smaller than the buzzards, but bigger than a kestrel, maybe even a peregrine, but I decided that I shouldn't stop, cos the person would be waiting for me. I still wish I had stopped if only to find out what the other bird was, but they were just circling round, quite low and it would have made an interesting pic. And it was right near a junction, so I could have pulled off. Oh well, heat of the moment and all that, you obviously know what I mean.
Having said all that, you won't forget your first slow worm, so savour the memories, and keep an eye on those woodpiles. |
