| | | Frog Call or Bird Call I heard a very strange noise this lunchtime the only thing that I could think that it sounded like was a frog's croak. I thought however that frogs call at night and in spring.
I did have my mobile phone and found the voice recording function but by then the noise had stopped. I let out a few little croaks myself and the noise started again. There must have been at least two of these animals as the noise alternately came from either side of the pond.
The only bird I could see was a Little Grebe.
Not sure where I can upload sound files. |

| | | Re: Frog Call or Bird Call hyla arborea will call during the daytime in response to drops in air pressure/ rain coming. i think there may be some loose down south but they aren't native.
our native species only tend to call on warm moist evenings in the breediing season. |

Not sure where I can upload sound files. | I posted here last year about 'late summer' daytime calling, to which no one provided any definitive response - but certainly common frogs do call in the day time and later in the year than Spring. However I've heard Magpies giving a deep 'half croak' which isn't unlike the sound of frog, so maybe that's another possibility.
