| | | very very little frogs Hi I live in a basement flat which has a rather damp area just outside the back door (it's where all of the gutter pipes etc go to), anyway, since I moved in I have had a number of small frogs try to get into my flat, and I mean REALLY small, from about 1cm to 4cm.
I originally thought that they were just baby frogs, but I moved in February.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of frogs these may be?
This is one of the smaller ones: http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...5thjune031.jpg |

| | | Re: very very little frogs Hi,
Looking at their mouths I'd guess they're last years toads, but I'm sure someone will put me right.
frogs have pointy noses and toads have rounded ones.
Max.

| | | Re: very very little frogs on an early morning walk in Clumber Park yesterday, we came across hundreds of tiny frogs/toads leaving the lake edge and hopping along the footpaths in all directions, it was difficult to walk without stepping on them , they were so numerous! ( i hate to think of the numbers that would be killed later in the day by other visitors/cyclists etc )
even after leaving the lakeside and up into heath and plantation areas, we were still finding large numbers of them half a mile from the lake!
this one was slightly larger(12mm) and looks to be a toad.
looks like its been a good year for them so far

| | | Re: very very little frogs They are spreading out at this time - I remember finding hundreds against a concrete wall near some ponds a few years ago, all trying to escape to pastures new. Rehomed most.
Yesterday saw quite a few froglets in the grass locally, just hopping away frantically.
Saw an adult frog up in the heather at 1500ft a couple of weeks ago, no ponds up there but plenty of food - just shows how far they can travel.
Cheers
Ken

Ken | Yes I've seen them up there, I've even noticed frog spawn in temporary pools, but I doubt they last long if it's particulary cold. |

Although there are a few underground rivers and streams near me, could they live underground?
