| | | Help with tadpoles Hi
We live in the Scottish Highlands and about 5 weeks ago we saved 14 of these guys from a puddle which was drying up slowly but surely. My daughter who is six thought they were frog tadpoles but my husband and I thought perhaps newts or toads. They have progressed well growing their legs over the last few week and getting fatter. We add fresh bog water every 3 or 4 days, so I think we are doing the right thing so far. We plan to let them go in the bog where we get the water from when they are fully developed, so it is not too much of a shock for them. We would like to know what they are exactly as they don't look like newts as we first thought they might be, and we are now erring towards toads. Any information would be gratefully received and look forward to your replies.
Kind regards Old Toad |

| | | Re: Help with tadpoles Hi and welcome to WAB I think they maybe frogs as they are brown and toads tend to be black..
Newts don't have spawn they lay single eggs wrapped in a leaf. |

Thanks for your reply, the reason my husband and I thought they might be newts was because there was 2 newts in the puddle with them, but perhaps they were eating the tadpoles instead.
Thank you
