| | | Marsh Frogs There are plenty of Frogs showing now on my patch. I think they are all Marsh Frogs but there is such a colour variation, dark green through to light green and some with a stripe down their backs. |

| | | Re: Marsh Frogs Third one is definitely a Marsh Frog and the second one does look right too. Can't say I've ever seen them without the stripe but I know they can vary.
If they are chuckling at the moment then they'll be Marshys more than likely.
Cheers,
Adam

| | | Re: Marsh Frogs First two are Marshies, third one could be an Edible, huge confusion over marsh/edible/pool frogs, edible being a viable, fertile, cross between marsh and pool, lots of marshies round here and quite a few edibles,so where are the pool frogs ?,even Rana taxonamists get a headache over these three !. |

| | | Re: Marsh Frogs Is it possible to differentiate between common frog tadpoles and marsh frog tadpoles?
Some of my tadpoles are significantly bigger than others and some have a lighter coloured V shaped on their heads/ upper backs. I did have at least one marsh frog hanging around earlier on this year so I am wondering if the larger tadpoles are in fact marsh frog tadpoles |

Possibly you may also have tadpoles that didn't metamorphose last year? |

| | | Re: Marsh Frogs I think all three of these are marsh frogs, no dark eye mask which would suggest common frog. Plus I rarely seem to see common frogs amongst a large population of marsh frogs (note I have casually ignored the whole green frog cross breeding scenario - I intend to continue to do this until the day I can be bothered to catch a few animals and compare their digits!) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
