| | | Adders in Nottinghamshire. Hello Everybody,
I was wondering if anybody could could tell me about any good spots to see adders in nottinghamshire? I am looking to collect data and photograph adders for a research project for my new reptile conservation/education company Cold-blooded kingdom. I have worked with reptile species all over the world but have very limited time with our native species especially here in nottingham. I would be very grateful for any help with this.
Kind regards Michael.. |

Gibralter point nature reserve is a good place though so i'm told.. |

notts has an arg but i'm not sure how active it is. try it and see although it's definitely worth trying the derbys and s yorks ones as well as i know they are involved in surveying etc and may be able to help as part of that process. it may be getting a bit late for optimum conditions though. cheers and good luck

| | | Re: Adders in Nottinghamshire. Have you tried contacting Notts Wildlife Trust?
Not seen adders there myself but I've never looked either, seen many grass snakes and a few lizards too, theirs a fair bit of heathland around Notts (is that where adders live?) so they must be around
If the Wildlife Trust don't know themselves I'd imagine they would know who to put you onto that would
Good luck! |

I know it is a while since you posted this message but, I have only just found the site.
I lived in Bilsthorpe for many a year and we always knew that adders lived up in Deerdale. Where, I am not sure.
It is just off the A614. You have to pass the 'Limes Cafe' if coming from Nottingham or about 3 miles past Rufford Park if coming from Doncaster way.
Hope this may help you

Best not to make locations of adder public. They are persecuted and collected for export to the continent by unscrupulous folk. |
