try here ARG-UK - Amphibian & Reptile Group of United Kingdom
try the derbys one and the south yorks one.
you may not get a response straight away but it's worth persevering.
good luck

I always thought that the A57 was called "Snake Pass" because it winds or snakes though the peak. If you've ever been on it you'll know what I mean .
They are quite rare in derbyshire so I doubt anyone will put a location up on here!

To quote from the National Trust website at: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main...-snakepass.htm
'The origins of the name can be found in the early part of the 19th century when construction of the Turnpike road began. A Turnpike Trust was set up to manage the toll road and the then Duke of Devonshire was appointed Chairman. Tolls were collected at the Snake Inn, then a coaching inn, which derived its name from the Duke of Devonshire family coat of arms the 'Snake and Staff'.
Having walked / climbed extensively over much of Derbyshire over many years I have never once seen any snakes there.

neil | I think a lot of people would hesitate to publicise locations to avoid abuse to the snakes. |
