| | | Newt/Tadpole Diet/Habitat Hi all,
My dad has quite a large pond in the garden however it is filled with koi. I wanted to try to attract some frogs, newts etc so made a small pond next to the large ones, it is about 1 1/2 feet deep / 2 feet wide and built 1 week ago however I already have a newt in there!
I was just wondering what I can place in the pond for it to eat/supplement its diet (as there isnt much in terms of natural food in the pond as of yet) and also as a good habitat for it (I want it to stay there if possible!) I had already placed a layer of soil into the pond as I read newts like this for shelter and shade on sunny days and have a few pond weeds plus a bullrush and some marsh marigolds. Should I place anywhere near and around the pond for shelter? I also have tadpoles in the pond and have been feeding them standard fish food that is used to feed the koi.
Also any suggestions for plants that have large leaves for shade similiar to a a water lily but smaller(it is only a small pond) or any aquatic plants in general that would be beneficial to attract wildlife like dragonflies, frogs newts etc
Many thanks in advance!
