| | No Frogspawn or Tadpoles - is it too late? Hi Everyone
Having established a wildlife pond in my garden last year I was really hoping for some tadpoles this year - but up to now not a hint of frogspawn! I also havent had any in my goldfish pond - which they have always spawned in before. Walking in a local wood I noticed there was none in a pond that has always been alive with tadpoles in the past.
Has anyone seen any frogspawn or tadpoles in Staffordshire? If so where?
Are they just late spawning this year - or has something more sinister happened?
Cheers

I don't know the answer to your question, but it's an interesting one. In your own case, it may just be that frogs haven't found the pond yet. Have you seen any in or around the pond since you put it in?

| | | Re: No Frogspawn or Tadpoles - is it too late? I improved my pond in the winter. I was abit disappointed not to see any frogs around (having had loads in the garden last summer). Now I see there is some small amount of frogspawn, still not very advanced, hidden out of the way, and I hope the taddies can survive when they hatch. Any chance there is some in your pond hidden away? |

Thanks for replying - Tim I am really jealous!!!
T2 - I have seen frogs in the back garden but not in the front so perhaps they havent found that pond yet - perhaps I need froggie signs!!
Rob - nope sadly none hidden away nor in the back garden pond - which always had it in the past!
I will keep you posted if any appear
Thanks again for replying

Thanks for the reply - strange how they seem to have spawned in some places and yet I have nothing, and there doesn't seem to be any in the big pond at Trentham - which looks like ideal frog territory! I am sort of hoping they might just be late spawning round my way for some reason. There has been a frog calling by the pond for the last couple of nights - so I am keeping everything crossed! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
