Dead Newts in pond

Hi I 've got a linked three pond system in my garden and have always had healthy frog and common newt populations. Over the past two days however i have noticed three dead newts in the top pond. I can't see any bodies in the other two ponds but the lower pond is quite deep and the bodies don't float. There are no visible signs of distress on the bodies which are bloated and stiff , this might just be as a result of death rather than the cause. Any ideas about what's going on and if there's anything i can do about it?

I would suggest keeping the bodies in a container for a start, then find out on line where your nearest Biological Records Centre is, contact them and they will be gratefull for your input, to give you some kind of insight into their work, they even received some poo from me and ID'd it as Mink, so if there is an epidemic about causing the death of the newts ect they would want to know,
