| | | Found spawn in the garden Hello,
This afternoon, our puppy found some spawn in the garden on the edge of our lawn. We have no pond. It was all clumped together and from a distance looked like a black slug!
I've moved this to a safe location underneath a hedge and surrounded by rocks so puppy will not decide to eat it, and to keep hedgehogs away.
Any idea what it could be? Frog or toad?
regards

Brian | If its long & stringy its toad, if its a clump its frogs. Needs to be in water to survive, not sure why the frogs/toads are spawning on the lawn! Seen spawn in puddles before, but never on the grass. |

| | | Re: Found spawn in the garden My parents were asking me about this today. They have one of these trickling fountain things that recirculates from a very shallow pool at the base, less than 15cm deep I would guess. They have had spawn in the pool but have also found some on the lawn.
All I could suggest was that maybe a cat had been in the garden and had taken a frog. I didn't want to blame my dads "pet" crow. |

| | | Re: Found spawn in the garden I recall finding some spawn last year underneath a large raised plant pot - I put this in water but I think this killed it off.
The recent spawn was in sunlight, and its now in shade and sheltered.
I realise its likely to dry out and the eggs die, but if there's any way I can help it, I'm open to advice. |
