It certainly looks to be over in our area, not a single Toad found during the last three evening patrols. Patrols have now been suspended until next year.

Yeah seems to all be done down here too. Interesting you have been helping newts Gerry, never seen any along the stretch of road I help to clear. Or frogs for that matter.

Cheers Scar | Toads make up the bulk but we usually find on average 5 newts each evening and similar numbers of frogs.
It is said that Newts will eat Frog and Toad spawn, I wonder if this has had anything to do with the decline in Toad numbers in recent years.

We're very keen to get a better idea how these three amphibia (toads,newts,frogs) co-exist and/or compete in small,urban,man-made ponds.(See also link to 'Vanishing toadspawn'). Any observations on this ....?
