Sadly I had to fish 4 frogs out at the weekend - 3 males on one dead female - still finally some spawn in the second pond after the randy male frog chorus attracted 3 more females!!! |

| | | Re: Frogs stuck together? Help.. We went out into the garden last night and the 2 frogs were on the surface, we managed to seperate them and they were off on their merry way! We now have 8 frogs and 6 of them were mating, we now have another 4 clumps of frog spawn!
I am very relieved as for some daft reason we have all come veryy attached to these darn frogs! |

I know what you mean about getting attached - Mrs Camberleywulf has gone from being horrified to having the frogs to checking them morning and night alot of spawn but no development yet..... |

| | | Re: Frogs stuck together? Help.. Hi Ya all, could someone please give me some advise on my 2 frogs i have in the garden,
they have been stuck together now for over 2 weeks, they keep going into our deep pond and i keep getting them back out (stuck togethers still) as i dont think they can get out themselfs, I keep putting them in the large filter and they have stayed in there now for over a week but the one on top will not let go and has a really strong grip on the other, looks very harsh, i dont know the sex of them, should i try to separate them or leave them
thanks |

| | | Re: Frogs stuck together? Help.. I would be tempted to leave them exactly where they are and leave them to get on with what comes naturally to them. It's been happening for thousands of years without intervention from mankind.
The frogs will have chosen the best place to spawn and although amplexus - the coupling of the sexes looks a bit rough and occassionally a female is overwhelmed and drowns - it's what they do.
Ferrets ARE rough! |

Not nearly as sad as the constant and unnecessary intervention (i.e. fiddling ignorantly) that mankind seems compelled to do.
Well done, Redheadnutter, I like it when people leave animals alone. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
