| | | Help - Frog Emergency Help....! we're in the process of putting a new fence up and we've ben really careful moving creatures out of the way. One of the guys helping has just cut a frogs front leg and part of lower part of back leg off..... totally by accident, the frog was buried in the soil. We put the frog inthe pond & he's not bleeding (think because of the cold water). What should we do, is it better to put him out of his misery or could he survive like this. Help....!! |

| | | Re: Help - Frog Emergency Best contact your nearest wildlife rescue for advice re-putting it down, it will not survive very well with such wounds.
I hope you feel ok it is quite a shock when this sort of thing happens

| | | Re: Help - Frog Emergency The best thing to do is probably put it in a container with damp kitchen roll in to help stop the wounds getting infected.
I agree with nightshade tho, if it was just the front leg then it would be able to be released after a bit of tamodine and treatment, but the back leg aswell on the same side it doesn't sound too good.
It's very unfortunate, especially happening after all the precautions and moving things you've done, but when they're hidden in the soil there's nothing more you could've done to avoid things like this.

| | | Re: Help - Frog Emergency I've got a 3 legged resident Toad that seems to get around quite nicely, bit slow at times but gets there in the end. |

| | | Re: Help - Frog Emergency Ah-no, I'm sorry DC. If it was buried you couldn't have done anything to stop it anyway. Don't feel bad. |
