| | Frogspawn and fish Hello
I am a new member I have a little feeder pond a bit higher up fom a larger pond whichis fed from the large rpond and then runs down into the bigger one. I noticed that the fish in th elarger pond are really thriving with lots of new babies this year. Two days ago I noticed frogspawn in the big pond (they do this every year) but because I was worried that the large amounts of fish would eat them all, I removed the spawn to the little feeder pond. Should I have done this - have I upset the natural order of things and will the spawn survive in the little pond? Today noticed the frogs have again laid new spawn inthe big pond so I will leave these alone.
Any advice? |

| | | Re: Frogspawn and fish As its the same water and the fact they are in close proximity means that it will not be a problem. Fish will predate spawn and tadpoles so it probrably stands a better chance in the fish free pond how ever keeping spawn in both ponds is a good bet incase something goes wrong in one pond. |

| | | Re: Frogspawn and fish Hi Bluerose and a warm welcome to WAB. I wouldn't worry about the frogs, after all it's the same pond water and once hatched, the tadpoles will probably follow the current down to the main pond anyway.
