| | | First reptiles of the year for me Hi all,
The weather seemed a wee bit warmer today so ventured to a local site in the hope of seeing a Adder or 2. No Adders today for me but looking at the RAUK forum, others were more lucky on the Adder front.
However, saw a couple of Vivaparous Lizards, a juvenile and a adult male so it wasn't a total blank. Went to my allotment found a slowworm in the compost bin, which was a bit unexpected as I've not seen a Slowwie before in february.

| | | Re: First reptiles of the year for me hi mark and well done
forecast looks decent tomorrow so might be worth another try. i'll see if i can sneak the kids off to our local nature reserve. i reckon we've a chance of seeing common lizards but, having only ever seen female adders at the site, i'm not optimistic about seeing any snakes.

| | | Re: First reptiles of the year for me Yep......weather nice and sunny. More than 10 degrees....i checked out my local spot, adders everywhere! Funny, less than 2 weeks ago, their hibernation sites were under a foot of snow! And quite possibly we will have another cold snap before spring. I dont think they really go into full on hibernation anymore. Ive seen them out in late november.....and the earliest ive seen them in spring is the 12th of feb! |

| | | Re: First reptiles of the year for me I also saw my first reptiles yesterday[sun 22/02/09].At whiteadder reservoir,on the edge of East lothian and the borders. At 3pm isaw a small male adder and 15 mins earlier a slow worm, which was basking in the open[grass/dead ferns].I think this is the early for a scottish slowworm?.I have photos of both but i think the files are to big to download to this site!!!!. |

Lovely pictures, compared with my local Adders the eyes seem proportionally very large.
