winter pond management
Before any severe frosts set in I top up my pond to virtually overflowing then when it freezes over i drop the level about 1",leaving a hole about the size of a tennis ball to let the water breathe giving the pond a still air insulation

You'd think that we wouldn't have to mention it, but definitely don't put your car's anti-freeze in the pond.

Apparently this happens quite a lot
