Can anyone tell me how long frogs live, I have just been chatting to a friend and realised that neither of us knew the answer |

Up to 8 years in the wild I believe. I think they take a few years to reach sexual maturity, so it has to be a fairly long time.

Most die before 8 though, usually from predation.

and just out of interest Common Toads can live up to 40 years !
Big difference isn't it.

I believe they can live past 8 upto 10 years or more. Most if not all dont though . |

neil | Fascinating, less predation helps. Isn't it because of their skin, either because of a taste or the lumpiness - or have I misread that somewhere, that they're more inedible?? |

I found this thread very interesting!Never realised that frogs lived that long,but then even more shocked about the toads!!!We have both here & I am so careful when moving anything in the garage cos a toad seems to have a hideout there(Well it is dark& damp!!)My mate has called him Tarquin,just wish I could tell him apart from any others I might see.
Moved here in August & if getting home late at night had to do a 'sweep' up the drive because often frogs hopping across or toads strolling!My husband thinks I'm bonkers but agrees with my motives,if I'm driving he gets out with the torch!!Have to also watch when walking in the long grass cos saw several frogs last summer,I am a nightmare mowing too cos have to do a sweep before I start!!!!
