It's good for the kids to do this IMO as i grew up doing it as i would say 99% of WAB members did who most have had a bnucket full of frogs and newts in their early years.
sad that as wildlife declines, this innocense isn't possible on a daily basis. More like a one off treat. | I know what you mean. As a child I was always picking up Newts and Frogs. My kids have yet to see a Newt, it's quite sad really.

Its illegal in a couple of species, I wouldnt advise keeping them for long periods or taking them away from the wild ( including tadpoles if in large numbers), as they are struggling at the moment. I would encourage adults and children to go to there local pond and watch maybe hold catch some Amphibians be careful with them then leave them at the pond, that way no harm is done, and the experience is obtained in an Env. friendly way. |
