| | | Heron with common frog or common toad? I initially thought this Heron had caught a frog but I suspect it is actually a toad.
My books don't show the underbelly markings so I hope someone can identify it from the photo.

| | | Re: Heron with common frog or common toad? I would have guessed toad - but I didn't reply because I couldn't say what it was about it that made me think that - the shape, the spots? I still can't say, and it's darned difficult to find pictures of their bellies.

Although the toad was very well and deeply hidden in vegetation on the edge of the pond it was curious how the heron seemed to be aware of it from some distance and homed in on it. |
