| | Young Grass Snake Awwwwwwwwww I've just seen a young grass snake in the garden and I'm so excited!
We lifted up a bucket which was upturned on the path and there it was underneath. It was about 6 inches long and thin as a pencil. Its pale yellow collar was as clear as clear.
It moved along the path and into the undergrowth and we were mesmerised but no time to get the camera.
Now I'm left wondering where the nest was, as it could only be a few days or weeks old. We're in a rural location with hedgerows and field around us. We have closed compost bins, but plenty of warm undergrowth and long grass. Where and what should I look out for? |

yours and neighbours compost bins/heaps are a good place to start or any piles of farmyard manure or grass cuttings in the vacinity.
