| | | Frogs in my greenhouse. I have three adorable little froglets who have taken up residence in my greenhouse. I don't have a pond (neighbour does though) and they must have dug their way in!
Sadly we have named them - one at a time as we realised how many there were so they are called Ted (2cms) Tiny (1.5cms) and - just spotted - Teeny Tiny (1cm!)
I water my tomatoes and cucumbers daily and the little chaps seem to love that - coming out on a leaf to be sprinkled on.
My questions -
Are they happy there (there are plenty of flies)?
Should I leave them there (I do have two cats who might do them an injury in the garden)?
What are their long term prospects? |

What are their long term prospects? | Hi Jane , I'm no frog expert so someone else may be able to help more than I can but I'm sure they are happy there, and yes I would leave them there.
We have frogs turn up in our geenhouse from time to time. We also have a cat that sleeps in the greenhouse and as far as I'm aware he has never harmed any of the frogs. I don't think frogs are a cats idea of something good to play with or eat.

| | | Re: Frogs in my greenhouse. Hi Jane,I'm looking after a neighbours greenhouse at the moment and was surprised to see Frogs in hers too.....in fact they made me jump as they hopped out from under the Tomato's while I was watering them!
I'm worried that if it gets too hot they'll overheat in there??? but with the weather as it is at the moment they'll be quite safe I think!
I presuming (and hoping) they'll be able to get out the same way they got in?? |

| | | Re: Frogs in my greenhouse. I had dozens of frogs in the garden of my last home which I assumed came from a neighbours garden. They did a fantastic job clearing a huge amount of slugs/snails which reacted by growing shells on their backs.
I found the frogs buried themselves in soil to sleep out the winter.
Is it wise to leave the greenhouse door open at times of fierce heat? I dont know, never having had a greenhouse. I should imagine a shady damp corner is all thats needed to ride out the worst of a summer afternoon. |

Roger | Unfortunately they're quite partial to mauling the odd frog, (see earlier thread of mine re casualty). Bit of a challenge I suppose
I'd leave them there too, they're obviously happy
