I live in Portishead these days, the vets I use here is Vale vets, they are very good and run a Tortoise party every year (I am not making this up). One of the vets specializes in Tortoises.
Other than this and depending on where you are, I lived in Bradley Stike briefly and used Rowe, one of the senior vets at Rowe is a bit of a Tortoise expert, I had a problem with one of mine which had a severe infection making him not eat and walk in circles. He taught me how to feed him liquid baby food mixed with medicine. It was a tough thing to do daily, I had to force his head out, force him to open his mouth, then feed a tube in and down his throat until it was in his stomach, then slowly push on the syringe until it was all in, you then had to slowly withdraw the tube. It was a 2 person operation due to the strength of the Tortoise's neck. Bear in mind that my now wife and I had had only been together a short while when this happened, and I had just moved in with her bringing my 5 Tortoises with me, I had told her they were no trouble and looked after themselves. OOPPPSSS
So either one would look after you. |

I love tortoises too; we have one here at our school, his name is Victor. The kids love him, and it has been a great experience for them learning to care for him. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
