Where do you go to find lizards and snakes? I'd love to see both, and go on lots of nature walks, but reptiles seem to elude me.

the reptiles were found at a nature reserve just outside market drayton so just across the shropshire/staffs border...possibly very close to you depending on which part of shropshire you are from. i can't remember ever seeing a reptile while just out walking, although obviously some people do. i have to go out specifically looking for them which means doing a bit of research regarding locations and making sure the conditions are favourable. even then it's quite possible to go without seeing anything.

hi again

you may already know the site. it's burntwood - a staffordshire wildlife trust nature reserve Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

it is said to have all four widespread reptiles although i have never seen slowworms there. it also has a pond with frogs, toads, smooth newts, great crested newts and loads of palmate newts, although it's getting a little late in the year for these now. if you would like any more specific pointers let me know.
