| | Food for frogs ? I have recently found a frog in my garden.
Its obviously an extreem outdoors sort of frog as my garden is walled on three sides and all my beds are raised !
having researched the internet decided due to lack of space to use washing up bowl and some plant life, in one of the raised beds !
Amazingly the frog seems to like it and I often come back from work to find it submerged, after a hot day & then he/she then disappears to who knows where.
Do I need to feed him/her ? |

| | | Re: Food for frogs ? Adult frogs eat snails, slugs, beetles, caterpillars, woodlice and other small animals. Frogs have good eyesight, and when they detect an animal, launch themselves at it, catching it with their long sticky tongue, and eating it, as long as it fits in its mouth - apparently.
I'm sure it will find something nice to eat in your garden |

| | | Re: Food for frogs ? My mum has a wildlife pond in her garden, which has attracted all sorts of interesting insects and frogs. The frogs breed every year and are completely spoilt by my mother who dotes on them, she goes off in hot persuit of earth worms, washes them in the pond, chops them up if they are too long and hand feeds the frogs who seem to know somehow that it's dinner time. The frogs seem to line up as soon as mum is about and show no sense of fear at all. It's fascinating to watch! |

| | Re: Food for frogs ? update Thanks for all the advice.
My daughter has named the frog Florence.
Florence seems to be doing well and loves the "pond", however Im now wondering what happens in Winter, as its such a small pond, where will she keep warm ? |

| | | Re: Food for frogs ? Your daughter could have some more fun preparing suitable sites for hibernation - how about a log pile? If some of the logs are large enough, they may support the larval stage of the stag beetle. The possibilities are endless. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
