Frog spawn, tadpole,froglet, frog.
Toad spawn,...........,eft,newt.


Someone asked me today and I said larvae but I don't think it's right. Newtpole???

But why Toad Spawn? Newts hatch from Newt eggs

As far as I know Newts lay eggs amongst the underground vegetation - rather then "spawn" which is stuck together in jelly like Frogs & Toads do.

I suppose you could call it Newt Spawn - but as it's laid as individual eggs I just call them eggs

... and I still think they hatch into Tadpoles

I think newts lay single eggs on the uderside of vegi deep down near the bottom of the pond

Newts lay single eggs on the underside of aquatic vegetation, principally near the water surface, but will go deeper if no emergent veg is available - it is sometimes refered to as spawn because although the egss are singular they are encased in a jelly like sac to protect them from damage.
