What a lovely slow worm

Just wanted to show you all this lovely slow worm we found a while ago, its the most decorative slowwie i have ever seen

He is a purdy boy. i think true blue is always an amazing sight in nature dont know why but it always seems like it is a colour that should not be there almost un-natural, dont know if that makes sense, its gettin late.

Thanks, I have heared 2 conflicting rumors about blue spotted slow worms, one says they are only found in the south, where this this one is, and other people say they can be found all over the UK, i kinda hope its the latter because then everyone will be able to see a lovely blue spotted slowie.
I have seen countless slowies but this is the only blue speckled one i have seen, so i dont think they are to common so it was a really nice find!

I found a good few slow worms in the garden today, nice to know they're still there hoping to see an old grass snake friend of mine at some point!

A couple that I have found recently in my garden in Bristol have been blue spotted - they looked to be very mature so I don't know if it's something which comes with age perhaps?

Hi Vipera, very nice pic. I photographed a few slow-worms + grass snakes up at Hay Bridge Reserve in Cumbria last month that I posted on the sister site WATW. Some had blue spotting on them, probably more visible on the top photo. So the blue spotted ones are probably not just confined to the south.
