| | | Missing Frogs I have just come in from the garden having looked in all the usual places for
frogs. There are usually enough frogs here,in the pond in the undergrowth and stones of my "stream" to fill a Belfast sink! but although they filled the pond at spawning time I can only spot a couple of toads now this is unusal and slightly worrying.
OK, there was a Grass Snake and we do get visited by a Heron but this has been the norm for the last 25 years a summer shower or storm should bring them out all over the lawn and garden, any thoughts ?

| | | Re: Missing Frogs WE have the same thing with the school pond, the area is normally full of mating (or worn out) frogs. But so far this year we only have one or two.
Hopefully things are just running a bit late this year.

| | Re: Missing Frogs I had masses of Frogspawn in both my garden ponds ,sadly the Goldfish and Small Rudd have decimated the tadpoles for the second year running and I cannot find one wriggler left. - Incidentally ,why do Frogs suddenly vacate ponds during a thunder storm ? Could it be something to do with a change in water/air pressure ? A sudden change in temperature perhaps ? I noticed a couple of weeks ago during a storm, they were literally climbing over each other to get out ! |
